COMMUNITY

GROWING COMMUNITY AT PICIDAE PEAK FARM, GLASTONBURY

Here at Crops not shops we have learned that in order for the land to thrive, we need to thrive as individuals and connect together in communty. Every weekday we gather for our circle to check-in with our heart family, we also eat a community meal together where we bless and hold gratitude for the food that will nourish our bodies after a productive day tending to the land. We also have wellbeing wednesdays, where we tend to ourselves and needs, sometimes this can be holistically, or practically, laundry, shopping, sound healing, laughter yoga, massage, meditation, board games, herbal teas or taking time for yourself....Whatever you need.

We are learning to grow together, growing not only our food, but also ourselves. We have a right to, be together, really be together for it all. The good, the bad, and the ugly. It's all beautiful and accepted.

END OF SEASON VOLUNTEERS, CAMPERS & COMMUNITY SUMMER 2024

In the current lifestyle many of us have forgotten the art and practice of this biological need of the human animal. As a result many in the UK are elderly are in isolation suffering loneliness, parents are exhausted, and children have the highest rates of suicide in the history of humanity.

We have forgotten how to be together for many reasons, loosing many of the traditions our great grandparents practiced every day that make our bonds strong, simple things that are taken for granted, we have become strangers to our fellow human, we take for granted the soul nutrition that is sitting around the fire and witnessing the poetry of being human is, the medicine of being appreciated and seen, loved as we are, dancing & raising our children together, cooking & eating together, holding each other in the hard times.

We have been raised as strangers, polite neighbours, there is healing needed to be able to live and be with others, let alone grow food together, and it can be daunting, it takes the courage of calling out the issues as they arise and facing truths that help our inner self heal generations of turmoil.

We don’t have to be alone in this world, yet we are so out of the daily practices that help bind us, that it can be deeply challenging to simply be together, diverse as we are, it is a practice, one we are facing as a community at crops.
